Had a ball looking at the colorful lights around Richmond. Got my picture also taken with Santa at one. The tacky lights are very uplifting. Lots of folks were out and enjoying it. The weather was cold, but not unbearable. One place has been doing this since 1974, the longest running "tacky lights" in the area.
On Christmas Day we make the annual trek to the Jefferson Hotel to see the beautiful atmosphere!
The beautiful Gingerbread House and Nativity
I still felt the Christmas spirit this year, although it did hit differently. Recently, I was having some minor health issues and just not feeling well. I have chronic lyme disease and get these flair ups. During Halloween when I saw death decour all around me, I was longing for the Christmas Season. This was so nice to finally get here. And what's more, I tend to enjoy the "post Christmas"-when the Christmas Season is actually here, but the Christmas rush is through. So we don't dare take down a single green until January 6th, the day of the Epiphany. Unforunately, for most, it's back to the real world as early as December 26th, and the 12 days of Christmas is not really an official thing anymore. I wish we could get back to it. If you wish someone a "Merry Christmas" the day after the 25th, most people will be confused. Even in the Protestant faith, many churches observe the full Christmastide. So during this period, I enjoy playing Christmas records, having a few left overs of candy, and doing a lot of reflection on the coming year ahead. This is probably how it should be, but I realize I'm in the minority.
