4th of July fizzle

 Not really in much celebration this year because of the cost of everything, but I did manage to put on my patriot shirt and watch the fireworks at Byrd Park. Usually there is quite a lot of atmosphere there- (I shall put it that way), but the earlier storms and thick humidity seemed to keep away most of the riff raff. I was pretty close to detonation, because I could swiftly see the smoke billowing over the sky , and then the gnats were all up in my face. Had a nice picnic with baby back ribs, plenty of potato salad and beans and sweet tea. Apple pie for dessert is an American staple.                                 I dressed the part of an American at least

Richmond Before The "Woke"

 It's hard to imagine what would happen just 8 years after I took these pictures during the Monument Ave Easter Parade in 2011 and 2012. Notice how no one is upset over a statue. Just enjoying the fun and the beautiful weather. There were lots of people of all kinds walking around , and live music playing. Since the communist take over in 2020, there hasn't been an Easter parade on Monument Ave. For good reason- as there really isn't anything to see. We have the ugly Arthur Ashe monument- but even during the days of the Easter Parade, his side of Monument Ave wasn't utilized. Nope, people came to hang around Jackson, Davis, Lee, and Stuart. It's a pity now. They should rename it "shrubbery ave". That's all we have lefts. Shrubbery.  Easter 2012- notice the band in front of Jefferson Davis monument.
