Clark's Barn Part II

Here are some other pictures from Clark's Barn taken in December, 2001. (Aged 22)

Summer Time in Richmond

Heat... humidity.. that's Richmond from about  June through October! But it's really a nice time of the year. I love to walk around Monument Ave and the Fan and some of the nearby parks. What I love most about  Richmond in the summer are the sounds of the crickets and the bull frogs, and the smells of boxwood and magnolias which frolic in the landscape of the city.  The magnolia trees give out a wonderful smell, in particular. They deck the streets with the most fragrant of blossoms.                                        This is what our Magnolias look like:                      An Old Greek Revival Home on Franklin Street         ...

Some Band Photos "Outside Looking In"

These were taken in September, 2009- same time as my " From the outside looking in" photos were taken. I look better with the band, I think. These were slightly happier times. We had only been together for a few years, and I felt like we had more magic then. Not that we don't now. But looking back, it's easy to see how we fit well together, and we were 6 members, instead of five . Betty Robertson, the blonde lady with the glasses  was the mother of Terri , who sang vocals. She played keyboards as well. She left the band to pursue other things, as she was sought after as a pianist for another Baptist church in town. Her keyboard died one day in late 2011, and she hasn't played with us since. I kind of miss the days when she was still with us. She was about my mother's age, and they both went to the same school- Thomas Jefferson High, in Richmond. Here's a trivia note: I am the only member of the band who doesn't have blue eyes. My eyes are Hazel (gree...

Making People Happy as the Cow Mascot...

I enjoy doing the Cow Mascot for Chick-fil-a  immensely. It's such a rewarding experience. I get to act, entertain, perform, and get people to eat more chicken! So far,  this has been a very positive work experience for me. Whether it's just dancing around on the front lawn,  getting the children excited at Vacation Bible school, or making and meeting new friends, I think everyone just loves the cow! Many people ask to take pictures of the cow, (some times take "selfies"),  or just touch and pet the cow,  and it seems to make them happy. Young , or young at heart- people of all ages. Every now and then I get the occasional ruffian teenager who wants to pull on my tail, but most people are polite with it. Some of the teenagers ask me to "dab", and I have no idea what that is. I assume it's some jive dance, lol . I am not up on the latest moves.  So I just flap my arms like a chicken. A few notes about the cow: the suit gets HOT! It's always about 1...

Photo Shoot: "From The Outside Looking In" September 2009

These photos were taken at Tabernacle Baptist church in September , 2009,  for my single "From The Outside Looking In" . I wanted to put this on a 7" record, so I created a slightly retro feel with the lighting and the mood elements. The flip side was "Sweet Tea".  I was just a 30 -year-old kid at the time. I hadn't had much done so far in the way of media photos. It was pretty hot that  day , and I was sweating profusely, so my hair looks kinda wet. Come to think of it, my hair looks wet in a lot of pictures I take. I am cursed with humid hair syndrome.  Oh, well... I wanted to capture as much light as possible.  The Pastor took a whole bunch of photos on the church portico that day- trying to capture the essence  of me sort of "looking in" from the outside. Also several pictures of The Meadow Street band were taken that day, and we all decked ourselves out in black. I never was a fan of  black, but it's a slimming color. Despite our person...
