Easter Sunday and Some Others

This Easter felt kind of like a flashback to 2020 when we were in the pandemic. We couldn't really go to church because the car was still in the shop, and we didn't really have any dinner or relatives over. I did have some French Toast and dessert from Cracker Barrel.  I had to order from DoorDash.  On top of that , the weather was rather gloomy compared to the day before. Still, Easter is everyday in our hearts anyway, and Resurrection Sunday is the formality of it. I did feel reflective in many ways. It just felt different than usual. I didn't get dressed up or anything formal. I did watch some services on TV. I like to keep the dining room in the spirit of the season.

                                                          A little bit of Candy....

Some flowers in a tub at night on a local street

I took some selfies in my basement gym

Usually for Easter Sunday I go to the Sunrise Service at the nearby park. I don't like it when Easter Falls before April 1st, it feels too early. It could also be that I was very stressed out lately. Oh , well. Christ has risen! INDEED.

Lee Jackson Day Weekend- Lexington VA!

Although the Commonwealth of Virginia sadly no longer recognizes Lee-Jackson Day Weekend, many Virginians still honor and celebrate it. Here are a just a few shots from Lee-Jackson Day weekend in Lexington ! There was an awesome parade we did through downtown Lexington , which was preceeded by a memorial service at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. I marched with a large group of close to 100 people, and many spectators on the street waved and said "God Bless, Y'all!" to us. We got  almost all positive feedback and encouragement. The town itself is run by liberals, but many that live there are not on that side , and are real patriots. I enjoyed walking through Lexington, I haven't been there in many many years. On my way back, I stopped at the Depot Grille in Staunton, Virginia- a fun restaurant which was converted from an actual railroad depot. My waitress was a doll. The weather was chilly, but bearable.  It was a fun time overall !             ...

The Wayside Inn, Winchester, The Mountains, and Merry Thanksmas

I had to pick up my sister in Leesburg early for Thanksgiving, so I decided to stay at the Wayside Inn located in Middletown, Virginia, near Winchester. This gave me an option outside of "nova" and a chance to breathe. I have stayed there a few times before and it's like staying in a living museum.  I had a slight falling out with the management over my bookings, but we have made ammends. They no longer have independent live music, but instead  have weekend bluegrass jams. I love the history and the ambiance. This time I stayed in the Jubal Early room- the room once occupied by Confederate General Jubal Early. It was one of the rooms in the hotel that has the least amount of "ghost" activity, however, I felt a little odd , as just my sister and I  and two other guests were there the entire night. On my side of the hotel, no guests had arrived and the room across the hall was unoccupied.. The entire side of  my  hotel was empty! I did hear some strange things, su...
